I didn't get any work done on the noob attack this week, because I had an unexpectedly big writing week.  I don't really like everything about how it went, though, so to the Revise-O-Tron I go.  However, M said that my descriptions of Big Money HQ were confusing - this is perfectly understandable, as Edric is the capitalist villain and so I just had to throw in some quasi-Randian architecture descriptions.  But I banged out a sketch of what I had in mind, and probably one of these is going to make it into the illustrations.

Obviously (I hope?) the top is an exterior shot and the bottom is interior.  Anyway, Tuesday is more words, and I'll see you then!

"Project: Spiral" - Weekend Art Update #1

I've decided to post art updates on the weekend, to help me catch up on my illustration backlog.  It may not always be something finished, or impressive, but it'll be something to document the progress I'm making.  This weekend's art update is pretty simple:  just the travel maps from chapters 10 & 12.  I've already uploaded them to their respective chapters, and I also went through all the links while I was re-reading to catch myself back up after the hiatus, and fixed the broken/misdirected ones.

The following excerpts are taken from On the Nature of Humanity, and Its Various Features & Foibles, considered the authoritative introductory text regarding the sentient lifeforms of Third Earth.  While there are many and varied resources that are highly valued for their deep and comprehensive considerations, they can prove just as exhausting to read as they are exhaustive in their coverage.  To date, no single volume rivals On the Nature of Humanity in terms of pragmatic concision.

Transgender Tuesday: Reviewing "Sovereign" by April Daniels

I was hooked by Dreadnought, and after reading some overwhelmingly positive reviews, I read the sequel, Sovereign.  BLUF:  It's really good, though there are some triggerific parts and definitely a few low points; but as a whole, Sovereign takes what was great about Dreadnought (comic-book-esque storytelling style, compelling heroics, and villains I really like to argue with in my head) and kicks it all up a notch.

I'm not arguing against a specific position like last time, making this review considerably shorter.  However, while I'll try to avoid them as much as possible, BEWARE SPOILERS!

101 Interesting Things, part fifty-eight: The Horror of Georgia Tann

I'm back!  (In accordance with the prophecy.)  Thankfully, everyone I know and love is fine for the time being, and things have settled back down - but it did take a human sacrifice.  Well, a partial one.  I had to have my gall bladder out:  turns out, I don't just have a sour stomach, and I've had gallstones for fifteen or twenty years!  Also, these events are totally causally related, and not at all coincidentally timed.

Today's entry comes to you courtesy of the podcast, Criminal. I'll be writing about a real-life supervillain:  born and raised in privilege, she was denied one fuckin' thing she wanted, and began a domino cascade that resulted in thousands of people suffering entirely deliberate but completely unnecessary tragedies.
